Mask Up and Make a Difference

April 09, 2020

If you’ve been looking for another way to help make a positive impact in the fight against COVID-19, it’s time to Mask Up!

Mask Up and Make a Difference, organized through a partnership between the College of Nursing and Health Sciences and the Southeastern Foundation, is a new initiative that aims to supplement the low inventory of masks for healthcare providers. It will also particularly support our current and future graduates so they are ready to immediately help on the frontlines of this crisis.

Everyone who is interested in being a part of the project is invited to join us in helping make a difference at this critical moment in time. Community partners, including the Hammond Art Guild, are also coming on board and already helping ramp up the efforts in generating these masks.

Several easy patterns along with supplies are available to anyone who would like to support our Lion healthcare heroes while getting crafty at home. Volunteers are simply asked to sew either partially or completely finished masks, or even teach fellow family or community members to do so.

Can’t sew? No problem! You can still help the cause by making a donation to the Mask Up project for the purchase of additional supplies via the Southeastern Foundation.
