Accreditation

Southeastern Louisiana University's College of Education has a history of accreditation as a teacher preparation provider. The 2022 CAEP Standards for both initial-level and advanced-level programs are the current benchmarks by which faculty measure the quality of the programs leading to Louisiana Department of Education teacher certification.

Southeastern Louisiana University’s College of Education programs are reviewed for accreditation by the Louisiana State Department of Education (LDOE) as well as by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP). These accreditations cover initial teacher preparation and advance educator preparation programs.

CAEP is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation to accredit preparation programs for teachers. The reviewed programs meet the current LDOE requirements for teacher competencies and completers of Southeastern Louisiana University educator preparation program are generally eligible for teacher certification in the state of Louisiana.

CAEP
  • Initial-licensure pathways (undergraduate and post-baccalaureate): Probationary Accreditation (2022), recommended for full accreditation pending the full decision of the CAEP Committee meeting in October 2024.
  • Advanced level (Educational Leadership): Accredited (2022)
