Additional Louisiana State Department of Education Certification Requirements:
- If you do not already have Elementary (Grades 1-5) Certification, you will need to pass the Praxis Elementary Content Exam and the Praxis Principals of Learning and Teaching (PLT) K-5 exam
- A passing score on the Praxis Special Education: Core Knowledge and Mild to Moderate Applications exam
- Please verify that you meet the state teaching of reading and literacy requirements
Upon completing all requirements, the teacher's district will send an Evaluation, Add-On, Course Approval & Name Change Application (Application Type - EV) and any other documents (e.g., transcripts) to the Louisiana State Department of Education to add the new area to the existing teaching certification.
