Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC)

Mission Statement:

The mission of Southeastern Louisiana University's Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) is to assure the proper care, use, and humane treatment of all vertebrate animals used in research and education. That care, use, and treatment will be based upon adherence to guidelines as promulgated by the Public Health Service Office of Laboratory Animal Welfare (OLAW) and subject to the means and resources of Southeastern Louisiana University.

Policies and Procedures:

The IACUC is to review all vertebrate animal protocols for research, teaching, and housing in university animal facilities, to carry out biannual evaluations of the animal program and facilities, and to provide resources for training of vertebrate animal users. These functions assure national granting agencies of Southeastern Louisiana University's commitment to uphold national and local laws and guidelines for vertebrate animal care and use while supporting active programs of research and education.
