Research Interest:
Professor Stedrak's research focuses on the intersection of K-12 school finance and school law with an emphasis on constitutional and statutory rights of students, teachers, and administrators in K-12 public schools. His research is nationally recognized in the fields of school finance and school law. His work is regularly published in the Journal of Education Finance andEducational Considerations, two of the top-tiered journals in the field of K-12 school finance.
Professor Stedrak’s research has been referenced in numerous outlets such as The Chronicle of Higher Education, The Wall Street Journal, Educational Researcher,
Educational Evaluation and Policy Analysis, Research in Higher Education, Economics
of Education Review, Educational Policy, Education Week, Journal of Student Financial
Aid, Inside Higher Ed, Issues and Trends in Educational Technology, The Review of
Higher Education, and The Journal of Higher Education.
Professor Stedrak was awarded the National Education Finance Academy Distinguished
Research and Practice Fellowship award. This award is given to individuals who have
gained national visibility and who have distinguished themselves by continued exemplary
research and practice in the field of public education finance, both at the elementary
and secondary level, as well as in higher education. The National Education Finance
Academy focuses on providing national leadership on integrating educational research
and policy in a dynamic way to address critical issues in education. Professor Stedrak
is also the Chief of Staff for the National Education Finance Academy and serves on
the organization’s Board of Advisors.
Professor Stedrak has served on the Board of Directors of the Education Law Association.
ELA is the premier national association that provides information about current legal
issues affecting education and the rights of those involved in education in both public
and private K-12 schools, universities and colleges.
