Academic Advising

All students in Kinesiology and Health Studies (KHS) degree programs are required to be advised each semester to have their registration hold removed.

The KHS department does not use the electronic advising system. If a student does not yet have an assigned advisor, they can come to the Kinesiology and Health Studies office or call 985-549-2129 to be assigned a faculty advisor in their concentration or area of interest.

Advising typically begins 3 weeks prior to early registration. Advising appointments can be scheduled with the advisor, by phone, email, or in person.

Students should read through two documents, Advising Instructions and Advising Information Sheet. Students should also review their curriculum sheet and the University Catalog prior to their appointment and have a list of tentative courses in hand. Immediately prior to their scheduled advising appointment, students should retrieve their folder from the KHS office and bring this to their advising meeting.

ALL FRESHMEN AND ANYONE WITH LESS THAN 30 TOTAL HOURS EARNED SHOULD BE ADVISED by the Center for Student Excellence and NOT by the KHS Department. Please contact CSE at cse@southeastern.edu or by calling 985-549-3981.
