The faculty of the Department of Mathematics at Southeastern Louisiana University
invite local high school students to participate in the American Mathematics Competition.

Open to 9th – 12th graders
with an interest and aptitude in math
- The test begins at 9:30 followed by an engaging mathematics activity and lunch
with faculty members to learn about college and career options in mathematics.
- The AMC 10 will be administered to 9th and 10th grade students, and the AMC 12
will be administered to 11th and 12th grade students. The tests cover high school
mathematics content and promote problem-solving skills. See https://www.maa.org/math-competitions/about-amc
- AMC 10 and AMC 12 are free and open to the first 50 applicants each.
- Each test consists of 25 multiple-choice questions. Students have 75 minutes to complete
the test. Top-scoring students nationwide are invited to compete in more advanced
AMC competitions, culminating with the International Mathematical Olympiad.
