Dr. Kimberly Gedde

Kimberly Gedde, a native of Owatonna MN, is an accomplished performer and teacher. Currently she is the Lecturer of Saxophone at Southeastern Louisiana University and teaches applied saxophone lessons and saxophone chamber music.
Kimberly's performance accolades include International and National credits. As a recipient of Pro-Musica, Remember Faentina, and Heid Music performance grants, she has performed and taught across Taiwan and Italy. She is a champion of new repertoire and as such has worked with the Louisiana Composers Forum to create several new works, including an on-going project entitled "Postcards de Louisiane."
Nationally, Kimberly has been a featured performer at the Baton Rouge Art Gallery, Louisiana State University Contemporary Music Festival, College Music Society Regional Conference, Toledo Museum of Art for the 24th Annual New Music and Art Festival, Heidelberg College New Music Festival and at the Minneapolis Saxophone Salon and at several North American Saxophone Alliance National Conventions.
Ms. Gedde has performed with various ensembles including the Minneapolis Saxophone Quartet, Baton Rouge Symphony, Baton Rouge Little Theater and the LSU Wind Ensemble where she was principal saxophonist. In addition, she has placed in several performance competitions including 2nd place in the Midwest Regional Music Teachers National Association Chamber Music and Solo Competitions, 3rd place at the Region V North American Saxophone Alliance Quartet Competition, Winner of the Lawrence University Conservatory Commencement Competition and a two-time finalist in the Louisiana State University Concerto Competition.
As a very dedicated teacher Ms. Gedde has taught both general music and band in public and private school settings for 10 years. She holds teaching certificates from the states of Wisconsin, Minnesota and Louisiana and has worked with every age level from pre-kindergarten to High school as a music and band teacher. In addition, she has been involved with several curriculum and assessment writing projects in several content areas.
As a applied saxophone instructor Kimberly served on the faculty of the Bowling Green State University, Summer Music Institute Super Saxophone Camp, as a woodwind instructor for the LaGrange and Appleton school districts, and was the applied saxophone teaching assistant at Louisiana State University, from 2006-2008. Ms. Gedde maintains a select studio of private students and has done so for the past 13 years.
Ms. Gedde has studied the saxophone works of Madame Lucie Robert at the Paris Beaux Arts Conservatoire, holds a Masters of Music in Saxophone Performance from Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green OH and a Bachelor or Music degree in both Saxophone Performance and Music Education from Lawrence University, Appleton WI. In December, Ms. Gedde will graduate with her Doctorate of Musical Arts degree in Saxophone Performance with a minor concentration in Music Education. Her principal teachers include Dr. Griffin Campbell, Distinguished Artist Research Professor Dr. John Sampen and Steven Jordheim.
