Dr. Raymond Kit Loong Yee
Lecturer of Piano
Raymond Kit Loong Yee is an active pianist in both performing and teaching fields. He began music lessons at the age of four and has followed his passion for music his entire life.
A native of Malaysia, Dr. Yee obtained his Bachelor degree from University of Malaya. Continuing his education in the United States, he received his Master degree from Missouri State University in the studio of Dr. Wei-Han Su, and his Doctoral degree at Louisiana State University in the studio of Mr. Gregory Sioles. Dr. Yee won many awards and competitions throughout his studies, including first prize in the LSU Concerto Competition, winner of MTNA Young Artist Performance in Missouri State, and finalist of ASEAN Chopin Piano Competition.
Dr. Yee also accompanies various chamber recitals, choruses, orchestras, and colleagues’ recitals. Some of his most recent performances include the premiere of five pieces of new music for violin and piano along with LSU faculty member Dr. Lin He, and pianist for Crescent Chamber Artists at the New Orleans Marigny Opera House.
In addition to his love for performing, Dr. Yee also has a passion for teaching. He and his wife manage and co-teach pre-college students in their own private piano studio. Many of their students have won local, regional, and national awards.
Having recently joined the Southeastern faculty in 2017, Dr. Yee looks forward to passing on his love of music to his students in applied piano.
