Every year The SLU Contemporary invites Art + Design students of all levels to submit their artwork for a chance to be included in this juried exhibition. A professional artist or designer from our arts community reviews hundreds of student submissions and selects what they consider to be the strongest works of art.
This year, the SLU Contemporary asked glass artist Laurel Porcari to serve as the Juror for the 2020 Juried Visual Art + Design Student Exhibition. Laurel brings her expertise in the production of glass works for private and public pieces such as the permanent collections of New York’s Montefiore Medical Center; Baylor University Medical Center and the University Hospital System in Texas; Xavier University in New Orleans; and Louisiana State University. Combined with her interest in youth empowerment through the arts, and her dedication to art education, we were grateful to Laurel Porcari for carefully selecting some of our students’ most powerful works for this exhibition.
