Experiential Learning at Southeastern
Presenter Jayetta Slawson will provide an overview of experiential education at Southeastern and of Southeastern's Real-World Ready initiative. Attendees will learn about funding opportunities and receive a copy of the peer-reviewed academic journal, ELTHE: Experiential Learning and Teaching in Higher Education, complements of the publisher, Southern Utah University.

Experiencing the Field
Presenters Amber Narro and Phillip Voegel will present on "Great Expectations--Raising the Bar (and learning from those who may not reach it)" as they cover various types of "away" projects for students ranging from online and campus events to working with an outside organization to provide students with professional opportunities through field-based projects.

Research as Experiential Learning
Presenters Lu Yuan and Holly Kihm will speak on "Engaging Students in Construction Safety Research" and "Interactive Physical Activity Lab: Utilizing EL to Promote Behavior Change among Children and Youth" respectively. These diverse case studies illustrate that research-based projects are effective opportunities for making students career ready.

Experiential Education: What It Is, How It Works, and Why It Matters
Presenter Jay W. Roberts, Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs at Earlham
College, is a national speaker who teaches courses in both the Education and Environmental
Studies Programs. Attendees will receive a copy of his latest book, Experiential Education in the College Context, first published by Routledge, 2016. Please note: While this presentation serves
as the final CUTL session, the campus community is welcome to attend.
