The Livingston Parish Literacy and Technology Center's mission is to improve the level of education and quality of life for the citizens of Livingston Parish.
Through the center's programs, adults and children will attain long-term economic benefits associated with improved education; become more comfortable with reading, writing, math, science, and technology; and become better informed on environmental issues in modern society.
Attend Southeastern credit courses at our safe and convenient location on Highway
190 in Walker. Many general education courses, foundation courses and science labs
are offered at the Literacy and Technology Center. View a list of Fall 2014 credit courses.
Southeastern students have access to tech fee computers and tech fee printing in Walker.
The computer lab is located in room 114 and is open Monday-Thursday from 7:30 am to
9:00 and Friday from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm.
In addition to our tech fee computer lab, the Literacy and Technology Center is has
wireless internet access and available seating areas for studying or to meet with
classmates for group projects.
Southeastern's Community Music School offers private lessons in voice, piano and violin
to all ages. Group lessons are also available by request.
Attend personal or career enrichment workshops, seminars or certificate courses at
the Literacy and Technology Center through Southeastern's non-credit programs. Programs
are available for all ages such as ACT Preparation for high school students, Quickbooks
Certification Preparation for adults, or Acting classes for children to name a few.
Classes may be customized for your business or group by request.
A dual language preschool class of 20 four-year-olds is operated at the center, providing children with the opportunity to become bilingual and biliterate in English and Spanish. The class serves as a laboratory/clinical site for Southeastern Louisiana University teacher education candidates. Children in the class represent preschool children who are native English speakers and children who are native Spanish speakers.
