ULS Grant

Youth Serve America

YSA supports and motivates youth, educators and service-learning coordinators by distrbuting over 400 micro grants each year for service and service-learning initiatives. Most grants support projects that culminate on Global Youth Service Day in April, but some funding is available for other projects.


Learn and Serve America

Learn and Serve America provides grant support annually (primarily through intermediaries) to diverse partnerships to develop and sustain service-learning projects. Generally, grants are for a period of three years, renewable annually contingent upon performance and the availability of funds.


National Endowment for the Humanities

NEH is an independent grant-making agency of the United States government dedicated to supporting research, education, preservation, and public programs in the humanities. is the place to find information about all federal grants.


W.K. Kellogg Foundation

The W.K. Kellogg Foundation supports children, families, and communities as they strengthen and create conditions that propel vulnerable children to achieve success as individuals and as contributors to the larger community and society.


Spencer Foundation

Spencer Foundation believes that cultivating knowledge and new ideas about education will ultimately improve students' lives and enrich society. The Foundation pursues its mission by awarding research grants and fellowships and by strengthening the connections among education research, policy and practice through the Spencer Forum.

Michigan Journal of Community Service Learning (MJCSL)

This is a national, peer-reviewed journal consisting of articles written by faculty and service-learning educators on research, theory pedagogy and other issues pertinent to the service-learning community.


Compact Current

Highlights the best writing on civic education and service-learning from sources around the country. Published in the fall, winter, and spring.

Journal of Experiential Education (JEE)

Published by the Association of Experiential Education (AEE), this is a professional, peer-reviewed journal that publishes a diverse range of articles in subject areas including service-learning.


Service-Learning Research Capacity Hub

Through National Service-Learning Clearinghouse, this Research Capacity Hub will provide resources, highlight known and emerging scholars, build capacity to conduct and publish research, disseminate information, and secure external funding.
