Veterans Upward Bound (VUB) is a program funded by the U.S. Department of Education.
The mission of the program is to generate the skills and motivation necessary to complete
a program of secondary education and to enter and succeed in a program of postsecondary
education. Veterans Upward Bound provides academic support to participants in their
preparation for college entrance in Literature, Composition, Mathematics, Natural
Sciences, and Foreign Languages. The VUB program also provides student support services,
financial advising & payment for college testing and application fees for Veterans
who qualify. Veterans Upward Bound program eligibility consists of Veterans who have
an honorable separation from service, are either low-income or first-generation, and have an academic need.
All services are provided FREE to veterans who qualify. Veterans also receive a stipend
of up to $40.00 per month for active participation in the program. This stipend is
prorated according to the number of scheduled sessions/classes veterans attend. Every
Veterans education program plan is customized. There is no time limit in which participants
are required to satisfy the program. VUB is designed to meet Veterans where they are,
refresh and build their academic skill level while preparing to enter and succeed
in the culture of Higher Education.
