Fraternity and Sorority Life

Welcome to Southeastern Louisiana University! The Fraternity and Sorority Life community is excited that you are here. We encourage you to look around the website and learn more about what opportunities these organizations have to offer.

Southeastern is currently home to 19 inter/national social Greek letter organizations that are governed by three councils. Each of these organizations offer full-time students membership as a college activity and an experience that lasts a lifetime. Check out our “Recruitment” page for more information on how to join!

Greek Governing Councils

Each chapter at Southeastern Louisiana University is a member of one of the three Greek governing councils. Fraternity and sorority leaders represent their chapters and elect leaders in the community to serve in the executive positions of the three governing councils. Each governing council is charged with establishing and implementing policies, coordinating community-wide events, facilitating communication and marketing efforts, and providing programming and leadership development for their member chapters.

We are…Leadership

Students involved in Fraternity and Sorority Life are given opportunities to refine and develop their leadership skills to the fullest potential. Members can be seen everywhere on Southeastern’s campus participating in the Student Government Association, athletics, religious organizations, honor societies, intramurals, orientation leaders, cultural programs, social events and many others. As a member of Fraternity and Sorority Life, not only will you graduate with experiences to fill your resume’, you will have learned leadership skills that can be used throughout your life.

We are…Service

A primary focus for all fraternities and sororities is helping others. Members of Fraternity and Sorority Life participate in numerous hours of community service and local charitable projects. In addition to local community involvement, chapters participate in national philanthropic causes. During the 2017 – 2018 academic year, Southeastern Louisiana University’s Fraternity and Sorority Life participated in more than 4,000 service hours and donated over $120,000 to local and national philanthropies.

We are…Scholarship

The primary reason a student enrolls at Southeastern Louisiana University is to obtain a solid and diverse education. Fraternity and Sorority Life possesses resources and facilities that support high academic achievement and hold members accountable to scholastic success. Fraternities and sororities continually perform above all men’s and all women’s grade point average.

We are…Friendship

Students involved in fraternities and sororities make friends that will last a lifetime. These bonds often referred to as brotherhood or sisterhood, are hard to find in any other organization. In order to promote unity and friendship among Greeks all over campus, the Office for Student Engagement and the three governing councils host events in the Greek Village and the annual Greek Week.
