Q: Can a Budget Unit Head chair or serve on a search committee?

A:
If a Budget Unit Head chooses to use a search committee, he/she may not serve on the committee since the committee makes a recommendation to the Budget Unit Head.

Q: If we hire the same people once a year for the summer, can we use the landscape 5.01?

A:
If an employee has a break in service of twelve (12) or more months, the department must use the portrait version of the 5.01P.

Q: Does the University of Louisiana System Office have to approve all additional duties prior to the start date?

A:
If the employee is already employed by Southeastern they may be paid additional duties compensated on an hourly basis subject to the approval of the System Office. No payment will be paid without written approval of the System Office. Therefore, payments for these duties will be made to the employee on the next regularly scheduled payroll run. The Board ordinarily meets 9 times a year. The 3 months they do not meet may cause the employee to not be paid for up to 2 months.

Q: If an employee of the University accepts an Interim position, do they have to provide a new employment packet?

A:
No, the University has the information already on file.

Q: Do all letters of recommendation have to be originals?

A:
Yes, letters of recommendation must be original letters and should be addressed to the search committee for the position.

Q: Which of our candidates need to complete the Pre-Employment Application?

A:
The application and the EEO Data Form must be sent to every candidate for the position.

Q: What if we have already started the search and have narrowed the candidates without sending out the Pre-Employment Application?

A:
The application should be sent to the remaining candidates.
