COVID-19 Grading Accommodations

March 31, 2020

Dear Southeastern Faculty, Staff and Students:

We continue to face unprecedented challenges as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite these challenges, we remain strong in our commitment to ensure a successful completion to the semester. Because of the enormous efforts, creativity, patience and understanding of our dedicated faculty, staff and students, we continue to sustain our educational mission and demonstrate our core values of Excellence and Caring.

After listening to many voices – students, faculty, department heads, deans, the University of Louisiana System-- regarding the need for special grading accommodations during these unprecedented times, Southeastern is implementing Spring 2020 COVID-19 Grading Accommodations.

These accommodations include extended withdrawal deadlines, revisions to the incomplete grade policy, a new Pass option and the option to request a grade change after final grades have been posted.  I encourage you to read the document in its entirety. Continue to monitor the Coronavirus Information webpage for frequently asked questions (FAQs) regarding these guidelines.

Throughout all discussions of appropriate grading accommodations, the goal was to keep students on a path to earn credit for courses and continue progressing toward educational goals, while allowing as much flexibility as possible for students to respond to personal issues and hardships.

I remain grateful to each of you for your patience and partnership as we continue to work together to face the challenges of this pandemic.  The challenges have been extraordinary – but so have your efforts.

My best,
Tena Golding
Provost
