Connecting during change

Good morning Southeastern alumni,

Southeastern’s leadership team has been monitoring development of the COVID-19 / coronavirus and coordinating with local healthcare agencies and government officials to ensure that appropriate precautionary measures are being taken. As you may have heard by now, out of an abundance of caution, Southeastern has transitioned all in-person classes to online instruction and staff have begun working remotely until further notice. The measures are an effort to limit instances where  individuals gather in close proximity.

Accordingly, all campus events and activities previously scheduled through April 13 are canceled. This includes the University's annual scholarship fundraiser, Chefs Evening. Additionally, many of our off-campus alumni chapter events are being canceled or postponed as well. Even though your Alumni Center is closed and we can't gather in person, we are always here for you and are committed to being innovative in finding other ways to join alumni together.

Want to connect with other alumni and help graduating seniors?

As you can imagine, our students are most affected by these efforts to curb the spread of the virus. Our graduating seniors, in particular, are facing a lot of uncertainty. Those with internships may not be able to complete the work as scheduled. And of course many are searching for jobs, at a time when companies are focused on other priorities.

An easy way for you to help them or build your own alumni network is to join our Southeastern Connect online networking and mentoring platform. We urge you to connect, and to log on often to maximize your opportunities and to offer assistance to students with job searches, help them network, post jobs and internships at your company, and mentor them as needed. It’s a great way for you to pay it forward and help a future Southeastern alum find their place in the world.

We are here for you, too. Although our Alumni Center is temporarily closed, please reach out if we can assist you in any way during this difficult time.

We will continue to keep you updated through email and our social channels. Thank you for your continued support of Southeastern, and we wish ongoing safety and health for you and your families!

Lion Up!
