Institute for Global and Domestic Development Scholarship 
The purpose of the scholarship is to provide assistance to deserving students who
demonstrate leadership, citizenship, and service in the Latin- American community.
It was established by the board of the Institute for Global and Domestic Development
in 2016.

Peggy Jacob/First Presbyterian Endowed Scholarship 
Peggy Jacob ‘47 ‘64 was an educator and she and her husband Raymond “Biddie” Jacobs
bequeathed their family home to the First Presbyterian Church of Ponchatoula with
instructions to establish scholarships for Southeastern students with the proceeds
of the sale of the house.  The scholarships benefit Education majors at Southeastern. 

Joy Jackson Memorial Endowment for Humanities 
Dr. Joy Juanita Jackson was an educator, historian, and author. Dr. Jackson, a professor
at Southeastern since 1966, became the director of the University’s Center for Regional
Studies in 1980 and the university archivist soon afterwards. She was the first female
elected to be president of the Louisiana Historical Association. She established the
scholarship through a bequest for a deserving senior majoring in Humanities with a
demonstrated interest in the Florida Parishes region.

Peggy Jacob & First Presbyterian Church of Ponchatoula Endowment 
The scholarship was established with funds provided by an estate gift from Peggy Jacob
made to the First Presbyterian Church of Ponchatoula. Peggy Jacob was an educator
who taught for many years at Southeastern’s Lab School. It benefits a student majoring
in Education with a preference for a student from Tangipahoa Parish.

Peggy Jacob & First Presbyterian Church of Ponchatoula First Generation Endowed Scholarship
The scholarship was established with funds provided by an estate gift from Peggy Jacob
made to the First Presbyterian Church of Ponchatoula. It supports a first generation
student in Education. A portion of the funds for this scholarship were provided by
a match from the Louisiana State Board of Regents.

LeVar & Rhonda James Endowed Scholarship 
MBA graduate LeVar and his wife Rhonda established this scholarship for freshman students
who like them, come from Tangipahoa or Washington parishes and in particular for those
who attended Jewel M. Sumner High School, Varnado High School, Kentwood High School,
or Amite High School. Special consideration for this scholarship is given to students
who have demonstrated experience in or a commitment to working with the African-American
community.

Donnie Jarreau Endowed Scholarship in Athletics (Football) 
The scholarship was established by Donnie Jarreau, who played football at Southeastern
from 1980-1982. The scholarship benefits a football player, preferably from Baton
Rouge.

Taylor Jeansonne Endowed Scholarship in Industrial Technology 
The scholarship was established with a contribution  from I.V. Jeansonne, owner of
Professional Communications, to honor his son James Taylor Jeansonne ‘91, ‘92. The
scholarship benefits a student majoring in Industrial Technology. 

Trasie Jeansonne Scholarship 
The scholarship was established by I.V. Jeansonne, owner of Professional Communications, 
in honor of his daughter, Trasie Jeansonne Stelly, ‘93, ‘96. The scholarship provides
assistance to a student majoring in Industrial Technology. 

Johnson Family Endowed Scholarship in Athletics 
The scholarship was established by Doug Johnson ‘76  and benefits a student from Tangipahoa
parish, who is also a Southeastern football player majoring in Business.

Ellis Johnson Endowed Scholarship in Football 
The scholarship was established by Ellis Johnson ‘66.  Ellis played football at Southeastern
from 1961-1963 and is a member of the Southeastern Athletic Hall of Fame. The scholarship
benefits a Southeastern football player.

Dr. Nancy Douglas Joyner Study Abroad Endowment 
Dr. Nancy Douglas Joyner, ‘67 established this scholarship to support students participating
in study abroad programs. She was fortunate to attend a Study Aboad program in Cuba
and felt it was such a good experience, she wanted to help current students have similar
international experiences.

Dr. Nancy Douglas Joyner “Reach for the Finish Line Endowed Scholarship 
The scholarship was established by Dr. Nancy Douglas Joyner, ‘67 to provide tuition
assistance to a Southeastern female athlete, who has completed their eligibility and
has not yet graduated.
