ABOUT SOUTHEASTERN Accreditation Status MEMORANDUM To: Southeastern University students and Faculty From: Telaekah Brooks, JD Re: University Update Date: March 09, 2009 As you are no doubt aware, Southeastern University has received an adverse action from its accreditors, the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. That MSCHE March 6, 2009 Action is to remove the accreditation of the University on August 31, 2009. Until that time, all courses taken, and degrees granted will be from an accredited institution. There are a number of things that are being pursued by the University at this time that you should be aware of:
As Dean, let me assure you that we are working diligently to ensure that all of our students are taken care of. We are extending the graduation deadline for students to March 28, 2009. If you are due to graduate at the end of either the Spring or Summer terms, you should go to the registrar’s office and apply right away. If you will not be able to graduate by the end of the Summer term, we will facilitate your transfer to another MSCHE accredited institution. Of course, we will be contacting area universities to ensure that the maximum number of your credits transfer. You should contact the academic advising office at (202) 478-8227 or myself at (202) 478-8263 for more information. There will be a lot of new developments over the next few weeks. I will do my best to keep you informed of them via email, so please be sure to check your email every day.
