Helpful Communications tools regarding Accreditation

  • Students, faculty and staff will receive internal updates and information by e-mail regarding standard work teams, focus groups, the status of online classes, and other activities related to the expected removal from probation. Click here for Student Handout, a PDF document of the Student Handout.
  • Background and Talking Points for Faculty and Staff. Click here for a printable document.
  • A series of focus groups and student forums were held to engage constituents in discussions to be applied to mission statement development, strategic planning inolvement opporunities will be announced and communication around this process. Students, alumni, faculty and staff are invited to participate in these meetings and events. Contact the Marketing Office for details at marketing@seu.edu or click on Calendar on the front page of www.Southastern.edu.
Areas Designated for Improvement
Southeastern is at work with its team of Middle States advisors during a series of campus visits and monitoring reports as detailed in the Public Disclosure Statement. We continue to work to address and examine a number of areas designated in the December 2007 MSCHE Team Report for improvement, including:
  • Mission Statement and Strategic Planning
  • Assessment of Student Learning Outcomes
  • Institutional Effectiveness

Standard Work Teams
In addition to the oversight of Southeastern's Action Team (comprised of both faculty and administrators), work teams have been formed to focus attention to various Standards of Excellence. These teams are now at work to create improved processes and procedures.

Southeastern's Standard Work Teams have been assigned to make recommendations to:
  • Reform the university's mission statement by March 2008.
  • Create a new strategic plan for 2008-13 by August 2008.
  • Evaluate online course offerings at Southeastern.
  • Create a new enrollment management and retention program and considering advisement from external consultants.
  • Advise on the structure of the institutional research function - watch for announcement regarding Institutional Research
