Areas Designated for Improvement
Southeastern has been working with its team of Middle States advisors during a series of campus visits and monitoring reports over the past year. We continue to work to address and examine a number of areas designated in the December 2007 MSCHE Team Report for improvement, including:
  • Mission Statement and Strategic Planning
  • Assessment of Student Learning Outcomes
  • Institutional Effectiveness
Standards of Excellence
Click here for Characteristics of Excellence, a PDF document of the 14 Standards of Excellence as defined by MSCHE.

Standard Work Teams
In addition to the oversight of Southeastern's Action Team (comprised of both faculty and administrators), work teams have been formed to focus attention to various Standards of Excellence. These teams are now at work to create improved processes and procedures.

Southeastern's Standard Work Teams have been assigned to make recommendations to:
  • Reform the university's mission statement by March 2008.
  • Create a new strategic plan for 2008-13 by August 2008.
  • Evaluate online course offerings at Southeastern.
  • Create a new enrollment management and retention program and considering advisement from external consultants.
  • Advise on the structure of the institutional research function.
