Firewall Issues



If you get a "page not found" or "connection refused" error message, you may be behind a firewall.

  • If you are trying to access the URL from work, the organization's network may be configured in such a way, usually with firewalls or other security features, that access is prevented.

  • If you are trying to access the URL from home, you may have firewall software, such as Windows Firewall, Norton Internet Security, Norton 360, or Symantec  Firewall on your personal computer. You will need to either:

    • Temporarily turn off the firewall, or
    • Consult your software manual and/or contact their technical support for help in setting your software so that you can access our databases.
