Laptop Checkout


Sims Library has 19 laptops available to checkout to students, faculty or staff for use in the library. The laptops can be checked out from the Circulation/Reserve Desk during regular business hours. Students, faculty and staff must be in good standing and must read, agree to, and sign the Laptop Loan Agreement. The Laptop Loan Agreement must be read and signed at least once every five years.

Laptop Software and Hardware

Laptops are equipped with Wi-Fi and commonly used software applications, including Adobe Acrobat Reader, the Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Word, and Internet browsers. Each laptop has a wireless network card and CD-RW/DVD drive.


Printing from the laptops is not currently available. For more information about student printing at Southeastern visit the "Think Before you Print" web page.

Use Policies

All files should be stored on a USB drive or other medium after each use and prior to the return of the laptop. The Library assumes no responsibility for files stored on the hard drive or the recovery of files accidentally left on the hard drive after the laptop has been returned.

Loan Period

Laptops must be checked out AND returned at the Circulation/Reserve Desk during regular operating hours. The loan period is seven (7) days for actively enrolled Southeastern students. Laptops are loaned on a first-come, first-served basis.  Laptops may be renewed at the discretion of Library staff; borrower must renew in person with Photo ID at the Circulation/Reserve Desk. Sims Library cannot guarantee availability.

Fines and Replacement

Overdue fine: $15.00 per day. A charge of $30.00 will be assessed for each lost battery, power adapter, or carrying case. Damage charges will be assessed on the actual repair/replacement cost up to $1,300.
