Southeastern Alumni Association announces GOLD Council
Gold CouncilThe Southeastern Alumni Association recently announced the newly appointed 2018-19 GOLD (Graduates Of the Last Decade) Council members.
Members include David Cavell of Thibodeaux; Shawn Gatlin of Brooklyn, N.Y.; Michael Kyles, Jr., Marjorie Parker and Yazmyn Smith of Hammond; Chris Mycoskie of McKinney, Tex.; Renee Picou of Livingston; Shane Purvis of Mandeville; Malayne Sharp of Denham Springs; William Takewell of Lexington, Ky.; and Jeremy Troulliet and Rebecca Schnadelbach Troulliet of Ponchatoula.
Executive Director of Alumni Relations Michelle Biggs said the GOLD Council is dedicated to fostering and sustaining relationships with graduates from Southeastern of the last decade to keep them engaged and actively involved with the university.
“We were very pleased with the tremendous interest in this new initiative and received 24 outstanding applications, further proving that our young alumni are certainly doing impressive things,” said Biggs. “It was a tough decision, as we ranked the applicants on the basis of their former campus involvement, professional experience and community engagement, taking into consideration a broad representation of class years, geographic location, ethnic diversity, and gender. In the end, we chose 12 individuals who were the best of the best to represent our graduates of the last decade.”
Biggs said the council advises the Office of Alumni Relations and assists with developing programs and communications tailored to the newest alumni. It also acts to shepherd the development of volunteers and future leaders in ways that deepen their commitment to Southeastern and prepare them for active alumni leadership roles.
Members are selected from a body of former students who have graduated from Southeastern within the last 10 years. They serve a two-year term with the option of serving two terms.

2018-2019 Faculty/Staff Hang Tag distribution schedule
On Wednesday, Aug. 1, Parking Operations will begin issuing the 2019 Faculty/Staff Hang Tags at its office in Pride Hall. The cost of the 2019 hang tag remains $60 + tax for this academic year.
In an effort to assist faculty and staff, the following options will be available:
     • Faculty and staff can still purchase hang tags each semester at a cost of $20 + tax per semester.
     • The fee will continue to be prorated for those individuals entering in later semesters in the academic year.
     • Payroll deduction is available to full time Faculty/Staff. If you chose this option last year, your deduction will continue this year without submitting a new form; however, if you do not want to continue with the Payroll Deduction Option, a form (available at the Parking Office) must be completed and submitted to cancel the deduction. The Payroll Deduction Option is for the annual fee + tax and sign-up is between Aug. 1 and Oct. 1 of each academic year. The annual fee + tax will be taken in equal amounts from your paycheck through May 31 of the academic year. Should you terminate before May 31 during the academic year, the remainder of the annual fee + tax will be deducted from your last paycheck.
     • Credit/Debit cards are accepted only at the Parking Office in Pride Hall.

On Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2018, Parking Operations will visit several buildings on campus to assist those Faculty/Staff with obtaining hang tags. The following are the location and times Parking Staff will be issuing hang tags:
     • Dyson Hall -- 8 to 9:00 a.m. -- File Room
     • Student Union -- 9:30 to 11 a.m. -- 1st Floor West Lounge
     • Physical Plant -- 1 to 2:15 p.m. -- Conference Room
     • Financial Aid Bldg. -- 2:45 to 4:15 p.m. -- Next to Cashier’s Office

A Vehicle Registration Card (vehicle license plate number must be filled in) will be required. These are available at the Parking Office.      New enrollees for Payroll Deduction are required to fill out and sign the Parking Fee Payroll Deduction Form in the presence of a Parking staff member. We are asking that individuals paying for the hang tags with a check, write your W# on the check. If paying with cash, have the exact amount of cash, as we will not have change for everyone.
PLEASE NOTE: It is University Policy to present a Faculty/Staff ID to obtain a Southeastern Parking hangtag. The white vehicle registration card must include the current vehicle license plate number that the employee drives and will park on campus. Visit Parking Operations’ web page southeastern.edu/admin/transport to review information concerning parking on campus.
