April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month

The Campus Assault Response and Education (CARE) Team at Southeastern is hosting events and activities in April for Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM).  This month-long national campaign seeks to raise awareness about sexual violence and engage communities through education and prevention efforts.

 

The CARE Team is a campus-wide group consisting of faculty, staff, and students charged with creating programming, education, and awareness of issues related to Title IX. Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 prohibits sex discrimination against students, guests, and employees of educational institutions. Hands of Hope Pledge Drive

Rape Aggression Defense Course

Learn realistic self-defense tactics and techniques at this free 2-day course for women taught by UPD certified instructors. 

 

Denim Day
Tuesday, April 16, 2019 | Student Union East Pavilion (outside Starbucks) | 10 am - 2 pm
Support sexual assault survivors by wearing denim to raise awareness. Stop by the CARE Team's table at the Student Union to learn more about this campaign and sexual assault awareness. 

 

Strawberry Jubilee
April 17, 2019 | Student Union Park | 10 am - 2 pm
The CARE Team will have three booths at Southeastern's annual campus-wide Strawberry Jubilee event.

 

Activities for the month are sponsored by the University Counseling Center, the University Health Center and the Office of Student Advocacy & Accountability. Additional support is being provided by the Student Government Association, Housing, Athletics, the University Police Department and Student Affairs.
