Prepare for Career Fair

You’re focusing on your studies, but that next step big step of the future after graduation is always right around the corner. Southeastern’s Office of Career Services can help you every step of the way by offering a multitude of career counseling and job search assistance. 
 
Southeastern’s annual Career Fair will be held Thursday, Sept. 19, 2019 from 9 am to 2:30 pm in the Pennington Student Activity Center ("The Rec") on the corner of University Avenue and General Pershing. 
 
Career Fair
 
Interact directly with recruiters and representatives from over 150 local and national companies and associations in a variety of industries during the free one-day event exclusively for Southeastern students and alumni. You can also get your FREE headshot for your LinkedIn profile at the Career Fair!
 
Be sure to RSVP to ensure a speedy check-in and receive a full color name badge on event day.  You can also download the Career Fair app to register and access the employer list, complete with positions and majors registered employers are seeking, as well as a map/layout of employers for easy navigation on event day. Search "Symplicity Jobs and Careers" app in the Apple or Google Play app store.

Resume Reviews
Make sure your resume is ready. Your resume is your chance to showcase your talents and professional abilities to potential employers. Don't let your documents end up in the rejected pile.  Meet with a Career Counselors for a free five-minute review of your resume. This service is available in the Office of Career Services (Student Union Annex, room 2102) on Mondays-Thursdays  from 9 - 11 am and 1 - 3 pm from Sept. 3 to 17. Suit Up
 
Get the look. Attend the Suit Up event on Sunday, September 8 from 4 to 8 pm at the JCPenney at Hammond Square. Our students can save up to 60% on professional attire and receive assistance with fittings and coordinating styles at this exclusive event for Southeastern students. Attendees can also participate in free mini-makeovers at Sephora and get hair and grooming tips at the Salon. A shuttle is available at Pride Hall from campus to JCPenney and back every 15 minutes.
 
Networking for Introverts
 
Practice your presentation. Does the through ot introducing yourself to strangers give you anxiety? The Alumni Association is hosting a "Networking for Introverts" seminar  on Wednesday, September 11 from 4:30 to 6 pm. Learn how to introduce yourself, make small talk, and network! Register Here

  • Prepare ahead of time by reviewing these helpful guides.
  • Bring multiple copies of your resume.
  • Be prepared to briefly discuss career interests, goals, knowledge and skills with recruiters.
