Roomie's Homecoming Run: A Virtual 5k

Race Kickoff on Saturday, October 17
Race Closes on Saturday, October 24
$15 per Participant; Race Registration open until October 22, midnight

The Southeastern Alumni Association and The Rec have joined forces to bring you Roomie’s Homecoming Run: A Virtual 5k. Participating is easy! Simply complete your registration form, run the specified distance (3.1 miles) between October 17 and 24 and submit your time. No crowds, no waking up at dawn to find parking, no rushing to get to the start line on time and no worrying about bad weather at race time! All participants will receive a Roomie’s Homecoming Run medal, and the top three males and females will receive additional prizes.

Operation Where's Roomie: Do you accept the challenge? We need you to solve the mystery! Grab your teams and take photos of the clues on campus to submit via email for points. The team that finds the clue first wins the points for that day!


 

Food Pantry Contest

Students and Departments can donate food pantry items throughout the week to earn points! Students will help restock the shelves on Friday as part of Service Day.

The Southeastern Alumni Association, SGA and Hammond Downtown Development District have joined forces to encourage Downtown businesses to Paint the Town! This year, we’ll celebrate mysteries, spies and more through our theme, “Operation Where's Roomie?” Downtown businesses and on-campus organizations will be paired up to showcase their Green and Gold pride for our judges. Community members are invited to take a walk through the award-winning main street area to view the art or we invite you to enjoy a virtual tour with two-time alumna, GOLD Council member and Assistant Director of the DDD, Kati Morse. Winners will be announced live at the Picnic in the Park event!

The Honors Society of Phi Kappa Phi is hosting the 19th Annual Homecoming Quiz Bowl Tournament on October 20, 2020 beginning at 6pm. Student, Faculty, and Alumni teams of four players each will square off to answer toss-up and bonus questions in the varsity sport of the mind. The first-place team in each division earns bragging rights and $100. Second place teams earn $50, and everyone has a lot of fun. Contact honors@southeastern.edu for more information.

Description: Who says students are the only ones who are allowed to hold the title of class clown? Educators have the ability to transmit knowledge through the use of humor in their classrooms, but sometimes it's a matter of finding your own formula for being funny. We will explore various tips for promoting understanding and retention of course content through the use of humor in your classroom interactions. We will also address approaches to avoid so the joke doesn't end up being on you. Laughter might be the best medicine, but it also might be the key to knowledge.

Service Day

Food insecurity is a big problem on college campuses. Southeastern's Student Food Pantry helps ensure that our students have a little extra help for those who need it. The Southeastern community will make donations all week in honor of Homecoming, and we invite our students to serve by helping to restock the shelves.
