An international student from the country of Georgia, Nanuka Danelia chose to attend Southeastern because of its diverse campus, award-winning television channel and opportunities to meet with students from around the world.

She would use her time at Southeastern to participate in study abroad and become a shining star at the Southeastern Channel – training and experience she would later apply as an international news reporter.

"I loved reporting and producing for Northshore News. As an international student, I wanted to bring a broader view to the channel," Danelia said.

During her time with the Southeastern Channel, Danelia was one of the first students to incorporate a Skype interview into a broadcast. She used the video call technology to interview a young activist during the height of the Egyptian revolution.

Danelia now works as a writer and producer at CCTV America's "Global Business" (formerly "Biz Asia America").

Nanuka's hard work and dedication at the Channel would lead her to an internship with C-SPAN working in its White House/International and Washington Journal departments. Upon graduating in 2011, she was offered a full-time job at C-SPAN as a production assistant and moved to Washington D.C.Events such as that and the devastating earthquakes in Japan resonated with Danelia and other members Southeastern's international community. She described covering them as "eye-opening" because they helped her see how small the world really is.

A year later she jumped at the opportunity to work at the U.S. Embassy for her home country, Georgia.

A few months into working at the Embassy, there was a power shift in Georgia and the new ambassador chose Nanuka as his executive assistant. In the position, she briefed and advised the ambassador, engaged with his contacts, ran his schedule and coordinated government delegations. She also was responsible for the official communication system with the ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia.

"It was a unique time in the history of my home country, and I was lucky enough to be working for Georgia during one of their most important foreign missions," she said.

After two enlightening years at the embassy, Danelia decided to return to television and currently is working at CCTV America as a writer and producer for business news show "Global Business."

"International relations always interested me, but international journalism is my passion," she explained of her return to the television industry.
