HAMMOND -- Southeastern Louisiana University’s Department of Music and Dramatic Arts will present the Moxie Dance Project April 26 in the Kinesiology and Health Studies Building dance studio, room 153.

Directed by Southeastern dance instructor Dana Brewer-Plazinic, the Moxie Dance Project features student choreographers Anthony Jackson of Metairie, Ericka Johnson of Destrehan, Daphne Lamendola of Gonzales, and Jeoffery Harris and Diamond Williams of Baton Rouge. The genre of works for the 6 p.m. concert is modern dance and hip hop.

“Students were instructed to incorporate another art form into their work,” said Brewer-Plazinic. Jackson choreographed a piece utilizing the art of photography, and Harris will have spoken word and poetry within his piece.

Brewer-Plazinic said Moxie productions give students the experience of experimenting with the use of other art forms and performing in site-specific locations, rather than on a traditional stage.  “I would like to get students from theater, music, art, and English departments involved in our next production,” she said.

For more information on the production or dance classes and performance opportunities, call Brewer-Plazinic at 985-549-5254.
