Southeastern offers non-credit courses for fall 2008

     HAMMOND – The Division of Continuing Education and Special Activities at Southeastern Louisiana University will offer a variety of non-credit classes for area residents this fall.

     The courses will be taught by Southeastern faculty and other qualified professionals with expertise in guitar, piano, financial strategies for retirement, water aerobics, basic motorcycle training, stress reduction and preparation for the Louisiana Notarial Review, ACT and LSAT.

     Members of the community may register online at www.selu.edu/continuinged or obtain necessary forms from the Continuing Education and Special Activities office located in room 103 of the Southeastern University Center.

     Persons over 60 will receive a 15 percent discount and alumni with an active Alumni Association membership card will be given a 10 percent discount.

     Non-credit courses will also be offered at Southeastern’s St. Tammany Center (www.selu.edu/stc, 985-893-6251) and the Livingston Parish Literacy and Technology Center in Walker (www.selu.edu/livingston, 225.665.3303).

     The fall 2008 non-credit courses on Southeastern’s main campus include:

     green dotLSAT preparation – Aug. 25-29, 3:30-5:30 p.m., Fayard Hall, room 236; $175 ($27.35 for text); Charles Dranguet, instructor.

     green dotACT Prep Course – Sept. 18, 25, Oct. 9, 16, and 23, 5-7 p.m., North Campus Building B, room 230; $250; Michael Cox, instructor.

     green dotBeginning Guitar – Sept. 15-Oct. 20 (Mondays only), 7-8 p.m., Fayard Hall, room 236; $50 ($21.75 for text); Stan Hebert, instructor.

     green dotFinancial Strategies for Retirement – two sessions: Sept. 8, 15, 22 or Sept. 11, 18, 25, 6:30-8:30 p.m., Fayard Hall, room 237; $45 (plus $15 material fee due first night of class); Brian Low, instructor.
