First public meeting set for Southeastern presidential search

    HAMMOND – The University of Louisiana System search committee charged with finding the next president of Southeastern Louisiana University will hold its first meeting on the Hammond campus at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9.

    The meeting, designed to solicit public input on the desired characteristics of the next president, will be held at the Southeastern Alumni Center, 500 W. University Ave.

    UL System Board Chair Elsie Burkhalter has appointed a 10-member search committee charged with finding the university’s next president. Committee members include UL System Board members Andre Coudrain of Hammond, Burkhalter of Slidell, Russell Mosely of Baton Rouge, Wayne Parker of Ruston, Winfred Sibille of Sunset, and student board member Morgan Verrette of Lake Charles. The Southeastern Faculty Senate representative is Joseph Burns, associate professor of communication.

    Southeastern Student Government Association President Zealon Solomon will serve as an advisory member, as well as a community representative to be named.  UL System President Randy Moffett is the non-voting chair of the committee.
