Southeastern celebrates annual Read Across America March 3-5

     HAMMOND -- The Southeastern Louisiana University Office of Admissions and Financial Aid will host activities March 3-5 in conjunction with the National Education Association’s Read Across America program, “Celebrate a Year of Reading.”

     Area parents and children are invited to a birthday party for Dr. Seuss at the Hammond Branch of the Tangipahoa Parish Public Library on Monday, March 3 at 3:30 p.m. Local celebrities will engage children in story time along with a visit from “Cat-in-the-Hat.” The afternoon of family fun also includes art activities and free refreshments. Parents are encouraged to bring their children to the birthday party.

     Local celebrities will read to children on Tuesday, March 4, 9:30-10:30 a.m., at Southeastern Head Start and on Wednesday, March 5, 9-10 a.m., at the Southeastern Laboratory School.

     NEA’s Read Across America program is nationally known for inspiring children to explore the joys of reading.
