HAMMOND – Southeastern Louisiana University’s Community Music School is seeking interested participants for two principle ensembles, the Select Vocal Ensemble and the Northlake Community Band.

CMS Director Kenneth Boulton said the Select Vocal Ensemble is open to young women ages 12-17. Directed by Amy Prats, the ensemble rehearses on Mondays from 5:30-7 p.m. in the Pottle Music Building annex choir room.

“We strongly encourage all students from our region, whether or not they are currently studying privately through the Community Music School, to inquire about participating in this award-winning chamber choir,” Boulton said.

Under the director of Jerry Voorhees, Southeastern Professor Emeritus of Music, the Northlake Community Band is open to adults with prior experience on any band instrument. The band rehearses on Tuesdays from 7-8:30 p.m. in the Pottle Music Building annex band room.

For additional information on the ensembles or other Community Music School programs, contact the CMS Office at 985-549-5502.
