HAMMOND – Southeastern Louisiana University will remain closed while the university assesses the impact of Hurricane Gustav.

University officials said while the campus appears to have suffered only minimal damage, the campus is without power, and classes will resume no earlier than Thursday.  The university may remain closed for a longer period depending upon return of power and personnel.

Updates will be posted on the university's Web site, www.selu.edu, and with the local media. The university's radio station, KSLU 90.9 FM, which can also be heard over Southeastern's Web site, will also broadcast updates.

At this time, only previously-identified essential personnel will be allowed on campus.
