HAMMOND The Southeastern Louisiana University Gospel Choir is celebrating its 37th anniversary on Saturday, May 2.

The festivities begin with a workshop for the choir’s alumni members from 9-11 a.m. at the Baptist Collegiate Ministry, 501 West Dakota St., Hammond. The choir and invited guests will perform a wide variety of musical selections at 7 p.m. at the BCM.

“Formed in 1972, the Gospel Choir continues to strive for its goal of saving souls by ministering through song,” said Jolanda Taylor, area coordinator of university housing and choir co-advisor. “Because of their purpose and commitment, the choir has prospered into a full fledged ministry for Southeastern students and the community.”
