HAMMOND -- For the third consecutive year, Southeastern Louisiana University student Allyson O’Keefe has been selected as a finalist in Serbin Communication’s Photographer’s Forum magazine’s Annual Student Photography Contest.

O’Keefe is the photo editor for Southeastern’s student-run newspaper The Lion’s Roar and editor of the student yearbook Le Souvenir. Her winning photograph of a New Orleans Lucky Dog vendor will be featured in the Best of College Photography 2009 publication, which will be released in mid-June.

More than 4,000 students from the United States, Canada and around the world submitted entries for the 29th annual student contest, co-sponsored by Nikon, USA.

“Ally’s photography goes beyond simple technical skill,” said Director of Student Publications Lee E. Lind. “The images she captures not only showcase her abilities, but the content of her photos are always interesting, engaging and convey a message.”

O’Keefe, a New Orleans native, is a senior majoring in visual arts with a concentration in digital design. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Southeastern.

O’Keefe was also recognized for her photography in the 28th Annual Spring Photography Contest, co-sponsored by Canon and Photographer’s Forum magazine last October.
