Welcome Week kicks off new semester at Southeastern

     HAMMOND –Southeastern is hosting a fun-filled week of activities Aug. 24-27 to start a new semester and welcome students back to school.
     Jason Leader, coordinator of the Campus Activities Board, said “Welcome Week” is a great way to inform students of the many associations and services available to Southeastern students.
     Various campus organizations and offices in the Division of Student Affairs will sponsor the week’s activities and Leader invites everyone to take part and get involved.  
     “Welcome Week” begins Monday, Aug. 24, with the Office of Disability Services sponsored event “Aiming for A’s.” Focused on student goals and success, “Aiming for A’s” is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Student Union Mall.
     Also scheduled for Monday is the grand re-opening of the Student Union Gameroom, located next to the bookstore. The event is at 1:30 p.m. and includes food, giveaways, and a “name the gameroom” contest.
     Tuesday, Aug. 25, will include a Student Organization Fair featuring student representatives from campus associations. The Student Organization Fair is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Student Union Mall. Students will be able to receive career guidance and sign-up for campus organizations.
     Campus Activities Board is sponsoring a “Hurricane Party” on Wednesday, Aug. 26, in the Student Union Mall. Scheduled for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the event features free giveaways, refreshments, and hurricane maps.
     A part-time job fair will take place Aug. 27, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Student Union Mall and will feature over 40 area companies currently recruiting part-time employees. The event sponsored by Career Services will give students the opportunity to hand out resumes and network with local businesses.
