Continuing Education offers lifeguard training course

     HAMMOND – Southeastern Louisiana University’s Division of Continuing Education and Extended Studies will offer a non-credit American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Course in April and May.

     Open to those over age 15 and targeted to high school and college students, the entry-level course will provide knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize, and respond to emergencies and to provide care for injuries and sudden illnesses until emergency services personnel arrive.  
     The course will be offered on Fridays and Saturdays, April 18-May 9, at Southeastern’s Kinesiology and Health Studies Building. Class times are 5-8 p.m., Fridays, and 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m., Saturdays.

     The course will be taught by Southeastern kinesiology instructor Bing Athey. The course fee is $250.
