HAMMOND – Southeastern Louisiana University has implemented a four-day work week for the summer through August 8.

During the period, the university is operating on a 10-hour workday, Monday through Thursday, from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Employees will have a 30-minute lunch break each day.

“The change should allow adequate hours for students and others conducting business with the university, while allowing us to see some savings in energy costs, since most buildings will be shut down on Fridays,” said Southeastern President John L. Crain.

The university expects to save nearly $200,000 by moving to the four-day work week.
