(1) DISTINGUISHED FACULTY – Southeastern Louisiana University’s College of Science and Technology recognized two faculty members at the annual honors convocation April 29.  David Sever, head of the Department of Biological Sciences, left, received the excellence in research award, while Frank Campo, instructor of biology and zoology, received the excellence in teaching award.

 

(2) COLLEGE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY HONORS (LIVINGSTON AND TANGIPAHOA) – Southeastern Louisiana University’s College of Science and Technology honored its distinguished students at the college’s annual honors convocation April 29. From left are Lucas Harless of Hammond, Outstanding Graduating Senior Award in Chemistry; Brady Labello of Livingston, Outstanding Graduating Senior Award in Computer Science; Jalynn McDonald of Independence, Outstanding Graduating Senior Award in Industrial Technology in the bachelor’s degree program; and Lauren Falks of Livingston, Outstanding Graduating Senior Award in Industrial Technology in the associate’s degree program.

 

(3) COLLEGE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY HONORS (JEFFERSON) - Southeastern Louisiana University’s College of Science and Technology honored its distinguished students at the college’s annual honors convocation April 29. Robert Camp of Kenner received the Outstanding Graduating Senior Award in Mathematics.

 

(4) COLLEGE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY HONORS (ST. CHARLES) - Southeastern Louisiana University’s College of Science and Technology honored its distinguished students at the college’s annual honors convocation April 29. Jeremy Morgan of Norco received the Outstanding Graduating Senior Award in Occupational Safety, Health, and Environment Award.

 

(5) COLLEGE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY HONORS (LAFOURCHE) - Southeastern Louisiana University’s College of Science and Technology honored its distinguished students at the college’s annual honors convocation April 29. Meggie Doucet of Raceland received the Outstanding Graduating Senior Award in Biological Sciences.


     HAMMONDSoutheastern Louisiana University’s College of Science and Technology recognized students for outstanding academic performance at the college’s April 29 honors convocation.

     Meggie Doucet of Raceland received the Outstanding Senior Award in Biological Sciences, while the Outstanding Graduating Senior Award in Chemistry went to Lucas Harless of Hammond.

     Cited as “Distinguished Graduates” in various departments and programs were Brady Labello of Livingston, computer science; Jalynn McDonald of Independence, industrial technology, bachelor’s degree program; Lauren Falks of Livingston, industrial technology, associate’s degree program; Jeremy Morgan of Norco, occupational safety, health and environmental program; and Robert Camp of Kenner, mathematics.

     At the ceremony, the college also presented its annual award for excellence in research to David Sever, head of the Department of Biological Sciences. Sever is recognized in the academic community for his more than 30 years of work on the secondary sexual characteristics of salamanders. He also discovered and named the species “Eurycea junaluska,” a salamander restricted to the southern Appalachian Mountains.

     The award for excellence in teaching was presented to Frank Campo, who has been an instructor of general biology and zoology at Southeastern for 13 years. Campo is known for his classroom and field exercises used to emphasize critical thinking and to facilitate a discovery-learning approach that enables students to recognize and appreciate the practical aspects of scientific principles.
