Southeastern's Fall 2009 Non-credit Courses

     HAMMOND – The Division of Extended Studies at Southeastern Louisiana University will offer a variety of non-credit classes at the Hammond main campus for area residents this fall.
     The courses will be taught by Southeastern faculty and other qualified professionals with expertise in a variety of disciplines, including Web design, piano, financial strategies for retirement, Spanish, and computers and technology. 
     Members of the community may obtain registration forms from the Extended Studies office located in room 103 of the Southeastern University Center.
     Persons over 60 will receive a 15 percent discount and alumni with an active Alumni Association membership card qualify for a 10 percent discount.
     “Extended Studies is proud to offer non-credit programming throughout the region by highlighting diverse offerings in leisure and workforce/professional development programs,” said Tom Dawsey, coordinator of special projects in the division.
     Non-credit courses are also offered at Southeastern’s St. Tammany Center (www.selu.edu/stc, 985-893-6251) and the Livingston Parish Literacy and Technology Center in Walker (www.selu.edu/livingston, 225-665-3303).
     The fall 2009 non-credit courses on Southeastern’s main campus include but are not limited to:
     Financial Strategies for Retirement – Oct. 13, 20, and 27, 6:30-8:30 p.m., Fayard Hall, room 236; $49 (plus $15 material fee due first night of class); Brian Low, instructor.
     Instant Piano for Hopelessly Busy People – Nov. 19, 6-9:30 p.m., Fayard Hall, room 232; $55 ($25 for text); David Haynes, instructor.
     Introduction to Elementary Spanish – two sessions: Sept. 30, Oct. 7, 14, 21 and 28 or Nov. 4, 11, 18, Dec. 2 and 9, 6-8 p.m., Fayard Hall, room 236; $100 ($4.95 material fee); Dr. Aristides R. Baraya, instructor.
     Web Design – two sessions: Oct. 16 or Nov. 13, 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., University Center, room 203A; $195 (book provided); Amber DeJean, instructor.
Microsoft Excel: Beginner – two sessions: Sept. 22 and 24, 5:30-8:30 p.m. or Oct. 14, 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., University Center, room 203A; $160 (book provided); Dawn Wallace, instructor.
