Southeastern events calendar available online

HAMMOND – Southeastern Louisiana University organizations, departments and community groups are now posting information jointly on a new online events calendar.
The calendar provides students, faculty, staff and the community with a comprehensive overview of campus events. Available online at www.selu.edu/calendar, the user-friendly calendar may be searched through a variety of categories including academic, alumni, athletic, community and student events. When an event is clicked, the calendar also displays location, date, time and contact information.
“The concept of one cohesive calendar for the entire campus and community originated as a Team Southeastern idea,” said Erin Cowser, executive assistant to the president. “The intent is so everyone can see what others across campus are doing. That way departments and divisions can cross-promote events and attempt to avoid double booking of multiple events on the same date.”
The calendar also presents an opportunity for the Southeastern community to stay informed of upcoming events and get involved in educational and social activities.
“Every event that is registered through our office gets put on the calendar,” said Jim McHodgkins, assistant vice president for Student Affairs. “What’s nice about it is that you can break the calendar down by category to find what you need. Anyone who wants to be put on the calendar should contact our office.”
