HAMMOND – La Capitol Federal Credit Union has stepped up to support the academic programs at Southeastern with an exclusive platinum sponsorship for Chefs Evening 2010.
Chefs Evening, the Southeastern Development Foundation’s annual fundraiser in support of academics, offers guests samplings of fine cuisine and beverages provided by over 40 regional establishments.
The event will be held March 14 at the Pennington Student Activity Center on Southeastern’s campus. The exclusive platinum sponsorship provides $5,000 in financial support to the academic colleges of the university. In 2007 La Cap became the first ever corporate sponsor for Chefs Evening, which added to the already established tradition of partnership between the financial institution and university.
According to Branch Manager Ronaldo Hardy, maintaining a leadership role in supporting academics at Southeastern is important to La Cap.
“As the credit union for Southeastern, we are always in support of the overall success of the university,” he said. “We felt that this was a critical time to step up to the plate to ensure that academics remain strong and that the university can achieve its goals. We are committed to help in leading the way for this great cause, and value our long term relationship with our Southeastern family,” he said.
Additionally, financial education is part of the overall mission of La Cap. To that end, La Cap has partnered with the Southeastern Student Government Association to provide a presentation called Finance 101 where students learn the ins and outs of money management. Financial education is also provided to the community at large through its support of ACHIEVE, a non-profit financial education provider.
La Cap is a corporate neighbor to Southeastern’s campus and offers a full range of banking services to the campus community as well as the community at large.

PLATINUM SPONSOR - La Capitol Federal Credit Union Branch Manager Ronaldo Hardy, left, accepts a certificate of appreciation from Southeastern President John L. Crain for La Cap’s exclusive platinum sponsorship of $5,000 for Chefs Evening 2010. In 2007 La Cap became the event’s first ever corporate sponsor, which added to the already established tradition of partnership between the financial institution and university.
