HAMMOND – Southeastern Louisiana University commemorated the legacy of late civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with a candlelight vigil Wednesday evening (Jan. 20) at the War Memorial Student Union. Gathered together are, from left, students LeTraven Thigpen, Christopher Robinson, Damien Manning and Theron Geralds; Duane Donald, interim coordinator of special projects and TRIO; Aron Walker III, outreach specialist with Upward Bound; Alvin Cavalier, Alpha Phi Alpha chapter advisor; and Vice President for Student Affairs Marvin Yates. Guest speaker following the vigil was Southeastern alumnus Byron Lee, a member of the Jefferson Parish Council.
