HAMMOND -- The Louisiana Small Business Development Center (LSBDC) at Southeastern Louisiana University and regional partners are hosting a series of brown bag networking seminars throughout 2010.
Held the fourth Monday of each month at the Southeast Louisiana Business Center on Martens Drive in Hammond, the series will address important topics related to business trends and the economy. Attendees bring their own lunch, and the LSBDC provides coffee, water and sodas.
The programs begin with networking opportunities from 11:30 a.m. to noon followed by a quality presentation and open discussion with dismissal at 1 p.m. Cost to attend each seminar is $5.
The first seminar on March 22, “Incumbent Worker Training Program,” will inform business owners about the training initiative administered by the Louisiana Workforce Commission, said Sandy Summers, assistant director of the Southeastern SBDC.
“Employers can learn how to apply for workplace skills training for their existing employees, provided at no cost to the business,” Summers said.
Since seating is guaranteed only to registered attendees, pre-registration is suggested.
The next seminar in the series is April 26. The topic “Selling to the Government,” will address what it takes to become a successful government contractor to federal, state and local agencies.
