Southeastern Alumni Livingston Chapter plans May 20 presidential reception in Denham Springs

     HAMMOND – The Southeastern Louisiana University Alumni Association’s Livingston Parish Chapter is hosting a reception May 20 in honor of John L. Crain, the university’s 14th president. The casual meet and greet will take place in Denham Springs at the home of Rogers and Pat Pope, 7290 Enterprise Drive in Plantation Estates, from 6 to 8 p.m.
     Honorary hosts include the Popes, Kevin and Kandy Pope, Ronnie and Donna Bencaz, Mike and Ann Harris, Mike and Catherine Dehlin and Donnie and Pasha Sceroler.
     “We encourage everyone in Livingston Parish to come out and meet Dr. Crain,” said Kathy Pittman, alumni association director.
     Crain, a Franklinton native, is a 23-year veteran of the university. He served as interim president from July 2008 until his appointment as president in February 2009. He previously served as provost and vice president of academic affairs for seven years. Crain is a former head of the Department of Accounting and also served as Faculty Senate president.
