HAMMOND – “Lest We Forget: Reading and Writing the Holocaust,” an exhibition including artwork, posters, multimedia displays, student writing, and visuals by Southeastern Louisiana University English 315 students, is on display at Southeastern's Sims Memorial Library through April 19.
A special display will be set up for collecting new and used shoes in memory of Holocaust victims and survivors.
“The public is invited to donate a pair of shoes that will be sent to a church charity called ‘2011-Let’s Make a Difference,’” said Beth Calloway, Southeastern English instructor. “The program strives to make a difference in the lives of orphans, street kids and those in need in Africa.”
A public reception and reading of student work will be given on Wednesday, April 13 from 3:30 to 4:45 p.m. on the 3rd floor of the library. Refreshments will be served.
