HAMMOND – The Louisiana Small Business Development Center (LSBDC) at Southeastern Louisiana University will offer a hands-on computer session “Using WordPress to Increase Your Internet Presence” on Wednesday, Aug. 3, from 8 a.m. to noon.
The free seminar will be held at Southeastern’s St. Tammany Center, located at 21454 Koop Dr. in Mandeville.
The Louisiana Small Business Development Center (LSBDC) at Southeastern Louisiana University will offer a hands-on computer session “Using WordPress to Increase Your Internet Presence” on Wednesday, Aug. 3, from 8 a.m. to noon.
Sandy Summers, assistant director of the Southeastern SBDC, said participants will learn how to build a full-featured Web site based on the powerful open source WordPress platform.
“You will receive step-by-step instructions on how to edit your WordPress site and manage the most common aspects all by yourself,” she said. “You will also learn how to install and configure powerful themes and plug-ins to add a variety of useful features to your site.”
Summers said attendees will leave with a functioning Web site and the knowledge to continue making that site better. Follow up “advanced” classes will come at a later date if there is adequate demand for it.
“Attendees are welcome to bring their own laptop, or a PC can be made available for their use,” Summers added. “This is why pre-registration is a must.”
There is no cost to attend the event; however, pre-registration is required. For more information, contact LSBDC Southeastern at 985-549-3831 or lsbdc.slu@lsbdc.org. Online registration is available at www.selu.edu/sbdc or at www.lsbdc.org.
