MESMERIZING MAGICIAN – Famed illusionist and magician Mike Super will reappear at the Columbia Theatre for the Performing Arts by popular demand on April 8 for one performance only. Tickets for the 7:30 p.m. presentation are available at 985-543-4371 or at columbiatheatre.org.

HAMMOND – Winner of NBC’s hit television show “Phenomenon” and famed illusionist and magician Mike Super will reappear, by popular demand, on the stage of Southeastern Louisiana University’s Columbia Theatre for the Performing Arts on April 8.
Sponsored by Harley-Davidson of Hammond and Baton Rouge and Southeastern’s Lyceum Arts & Lectures Committee, the one-night-only show called “Mike Super: Magic and Illusion” is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in the downtown Hammond theatre.
“During Mike Super’s second visit to Hammond, he will try to “steal” a motorcycle from Hammond Harley Davidson by making it vanish from their lot and have it appear on the Columbia Theatre stage,” said Columbia Theatre Interim Director Ken Boulton.      “Additionally, the live audience that witnesses the event will then have a chance to win that very motorcycle. Every audience member with a valid driver’s license will have a chance to win the motorcycle if Mike Super can make it appear.”
“With his natural ability to entertain and fascinate people, Mike Super has pioneered a new form of magic with his own unmatched style and personality,” Boulton said. “He transcends ‘trick’ and connects personally with his audience on a level to which they can relate.”
Super’s ever-growing popularity has garnered him many prestigious awards and honors. Most recently he was the recipient of the Merlin Award, being named the 2011 Entertainer of the Year. The Merlin Award is considered to be the Oscars of magic; Super shares this award with the likes of David Copperfield, Penn & Teller, Criss Angel and Siegfried and Roy.
Super’s other honors include being named Performing Arts – Entertainer of the Year, Best Performing Artist of the Year, Best Male Performer and Best Novelty Live Performer. His many television appearances include being named the winner of NBC’s television show “Phenomenon,” numerous appearances on the French television show “La Soiree De L’Etrange,” one of the presenters and artists to appear at the 2010 Pollstar awards, and recently appearing on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”
Despite all this, Super humbly insists it is the loyalty of his fan base that has been the most rewarding. His fans call themselves “The Superfreaks,” and they number in the millions.
Tickets for the Columbia Theatre’s April 8 show are $32, Orchestra; Loge; $36, and Balcony $28. They are available online at columbiatheatre.org or at the Columbia box office, 220 E. Thomas St., 985-543-4371. Box office hours are 11-4 p.m., Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and one hour before performance times.
